Celtic claimed a narrow 1-0 victory over Dundee United on Saturday evening, with new signing Albian Ajeti scoring the winner.

The Bhoys travelled to Tannadice having seen Rangers beat Kilmarnock 2-0, but it looked like being a frustrating day.

Having only drawn at Kilmarnock earlier this month, Celtic were fearing another away day draw as the game headed into the last 10 minutes at 0-0.

However, substitute Ajeti – thrown on with less than 20 minutes to play – made an impact, smashing home from inside the box to claim all three points.

Ajeti, 23, has been signed after a dismal season at West Ham United, and has already scored more goals for Celtic than with the Hammers.

Ajeti was a star at Basel and is now looking to get back to that form, and his confidence will certainly be boosted by that goal on Saturday.

Now, boss Lennon has compared Ajeti to ex-Celtic hitman Gary Hooper whilst speaking to Celtic TV, believing they have a similar build and finishing ability.

Hooper was a hero at Celtic, smashing 82 goals in 138 games for the club – and Celtic would have themselves a bargain if Ajeti can match that record.

“We’ve got goal scorers in (Leigh) Griffiths, (Patryk) Klimala is a different type and Odsonne (Edouard) is a different type,” said Lennon. “He’s a bit more like a Gary Hooper-type, that squat sort of build, he’s a good finisher.”

“He had a great time of it at Basel, not so much at West Ham, but that happens and it’s a new lease of life for him and he’ll get a real buzz out of what he did on Saturday,” he added.
