Celtic manager Neil Lennon has told The Scottish Sun that there is no panic, with Steven Gerrard’s Glasgow Rangers at the top of the Scottish Premiership table at the moment.

The Hoops have won the league title for the past eight seasons, but this term, Rangers are providing a stiff competition to their bitter Old Firm rivals.

Steven Gerrard’s side are two points clear of second-placed Celtic at the top of the standings at the moment.

Celtic manager Lennon has said that there is no panic in his team because of the threat from Rangers.

Lennon told The Scottish Sun: “Do I like a tight title race? Of course, but we’re only eight games in. I’ve been pretty pleased with everything apart from the last game, although I didn’t think we played poorly.

“There is no panic, but it’s important we get back to winning ways. Our European performances have been outstanding, but we’ve come off it a little bit in the league. We need to get back on it again.”

Celtic manager Neil Lennon arrives prior to the Betfred Scottish League Cup quarter final match between Celtic and Partick Thistle at Celtic Park on September 25, 2019 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Title race

Rangers were brilliant in the first half of last season as well, but the Gers faded away after the mid-season winter break.

The Gers have added consistency to their game, and they are also a better team this season than they were during the 2018-19 campaign.

However, Celtic remain the strongest team in Scotland and are still the favourites for the Scottish Premiership title this season.
