Neil Lennon comments on Rangers discipline, responds to Jose Mourinho speculation

Steven Gerrard’s Glasgow Rangers will take on Neil Lennon’s Celtic at Ibrox on Sunday.

Celtic manager Neil Lennon has suggested to The Scottish Sun that his side should not be tarred with the same brush as Steven Gerrard’s Rangers.

Lennon, who was appointed as the Celtic manager on a short-term basis in February 2019 following the departure of Brendan Rodgers to Leicester City, is not pleased that the Hoops were handed the same find as Rangers as punishment for what happened during the Old Firm derby in March.

As reported by The Scottish Sun, both the Hoops and the Gers were handed a fine of £7,500.

Celtic manager Lennon is not happy that the Bhoys have been put in the same bracket as Rangers in terms of disciplinary issues.

Lennon told The Scottish Sun: “My players have got to play and act like champions and that will be drilled home to them. I want them to play a good game, and play it the right way in terms of their discipline.

“It’s been an issue for the opposition all season. Yet we get tarred with the same brush after the last game, when I think my players acted very well. Rangers are the ones with the red cards and the suspensions.”

Celtic will take on Rangers away from home at Ibrox in the Scottish Premiership on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Lennon has responded to speculation that Celtic are looking at appointment Jose Mourinho as their new manager this summer.

According to The Daily Mail, the Hoops have made an offer to the former Manchester United and Chelsea manager.

Lennon told The Express when asked about Mourinho becoming the new Celtic boss: “It would be a doozy that one! I’m not too sure how realistic that would be. It would cost the club a lot money, that one.”
