Brendan Rodgers’s Celtic have been linked with Hibernian’s John McGinn in the summer transfer window.

Hibernian manager Neil Lennon has told STV that John McGinn will not be sold in the summer transfer window.

McGinn has been on the books of Hibernian since the summer of 2015 and has a contract with Hibs until June 2019, according to Transfermarkt.co.uk.

Scottish Premiership giants Celtic and Ipswich Town in the Championship in England have been linked with the 22-year-old midfielder.

The Express has credited both the Bhoys and the Tractor Boys with interest in the former St Mirren star, but Hibernian manager Lennon seems to have poured cold water on their plans with six simple words.

“John McGinn will not be sold,” Lennon told STV.

McGinn is a hugely talented and promising young midfielder, and one can understand why Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers would be interested in the 22-year-old.

Losing out on the youngster this summer should not worry Celtic too much, though. After all, the Hoops could always make an approach in the January transfer window or next summer.

Competition for a place in Celtic’s midfield is strong, and McGinn would have struggled for playing time at Celtic Park next season.
