Neil Lennon has told TV3 how it was “ridiculous” how Celtic were not awarded a penalty in Tuesday’s 1-1 draw away to Manchester City.

Patrick Roberts opened the scoring for the Hoops against his parent club after only four minutes, but Kelechi Iheanacho cancelled it out shortly afterwards.
Brendan Rodgers’s side could and probably should have had a penalty awarded in their favour on the stroke of half time when Roberts was fouled in the area by Gael Clichy.
The referee waved away appeals and right-back Mikael Lustig picked up a yellow card for the way in which he remonstrated with the fifth official behind the goal.
Lennon, Celtic’s manager on perhaps their most famous Champions League night of recent memory when they beat Barcelona four years ago, says it was “absolutely hilarious” to see the Swede get booked, claiming it was a stonewall penalty against Roberts.
He told TV3: “That’s absolutely hilarious. How does Mikael Lustig get booked? It was a clear-cut penalty. It’s ridiculous.
“Clichy has no intention of playing the ball. He pulls him back. Roberts shouldn’t have to go down. He was pulled back. It’s a penalty.”
The Premiership champions finished bottom of Group C, which they knew beforehand, but there were plenty of positives for Celtic on their return to Europe’s elite competition after a two-year absence.
