Celtic beat St Johnstone 7-0 on Saturday afternoon.
Celtic boss Neil Lennon has told The Scottish Sun that he thought Hatem Abd Elhamed was ‘outstanding’ against St Johnstone on Saturday.
The Bhoys played their first league game of the season on Saturday afternoon, as Tommy Wright’s St Johnstone made the trip to Parkhead.
They suffered an absolute pasting at the hands of Lennon’s Bhoys, with Mikey Johnston scoring the opener before a Ryan Christie brace made it 3-0 at the break.
Christie completed his hat-trick in the second half, and Olivier Ntcham, Odsonne Edouard and Leigh Griffiths rounded off the scoring.
It was a hugely positive day for Celtic, and fans got to see new signing Abd Elhamed in action at Parkhead, making his competitive debut having arrived from Hapoel Be’er Sheva last month.
The Israeli international started at right back, and impressed for 51 minutes before he suffered an injury, and was replaced by Anthony Ralston.
Lennon admitted that he thought Abd Elhamed was ‘outstanding’, but suffered a dead leg on Saturday, and with concerns about problems with bleeding, he was substituted ahead of Wednesday’s game against CFR Cluj.
“He suffered a dead leg just before half-time,” said Lennon. “He felt he could go on for another 15 minutes but there might be a bit of a bleed there. We’ll just have to monitor him ahead of Wednesday but I thought he was outstanding,” he added.
