Brendan Rodgers was unable to help Celtic progress through the group stages in Europe this time around.
Neil Lennon has told the Glasgow Evening Times that he believes Celtic can make it out of the Champions League group stages next season.
Celtic made some improvements in Europe this term, but they were unable to avoid finishing bottom of their group.
Although the Bhoys picked up two impressive draws against Manchester City, they ended up finishing behind Pep Guardiola’s side, Barcelona and Borussia Monchengladbach.
And Lennon saw enough from the Bhoys to suggest that they could be successful in Europe next season.
“If this current Celtic team keep progressing the way they are then they have it in them to do that as well,” Lennon said.
“Getting into the last 16 is a real achievement given the difference in budgets at that level.
“But there is no question that you need a wee bit of luck. When you look at the group Celtic were in this season, it was always going to be really, really difficult to get out of it.”
Celtic had failed to even make the group stages of the Champions League when Ronny Deila was in charge, but Rodgers has certainly improved the Glasgow side.
Celtic have been in wonderful form this season, and still remain unbeaten in domestic action.
The Bhoys are currently 19 points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership table, and look to be well on the way to winning their sixth title in succession.
