Arsenal are favourites to qualify for the Champions League this season.

The Gunners are fourth in the Premier League standings, three points clear of fifth-placed Tottenham Hotspur.

Crucially, Arsenal also have a game in hand over their North London rivals.

Mikel Arteta is doing a very good job at the Emirates Stadium at the moment and speculation of a new contract certainly isn’t without its merit.

With that in mind, why on Earth would Arsenal be planning to replace the Spaniard anytime soon?

Who knows? But apparently, they might be.

Brazil manager Tite is reportedly in talks to join the North London club after the World Cup in Qatar later this year.

That’s according to Globo TV journalist Eric Faria, who revealed during ESPN’s coverage of the latest Selecao victory that Edu is in talks with Tite about coming to the Premier League – and more specifically, Arsenal.

He said: “There is already a negotiation of Tite to work in English football. To work at Arsenal. He worked with Edu Gaspar. There is the intention, negotiations have begun.”

Confusing

It’s quite perplexing, really.

This is a relatively reliable source but surely Tite wouldn’t be coming to Arsenal as Arteta’s replacement?

However, with Edu and Richard Garlick already at Arsenal for transfer-related reasons and other such matters, what role could the North Londoners have in mind?

It remains to be seen, but Tite is 60 years of age and therefore it isn’t impossible that he might be coming aboard at the Emirates in an advisory capacity, rather than to manage the senior squad.
