Fabrizio Romano has taken to Twitter to reveal that West Ham are planning fresh talks with the agent of Alphonse Areola, and negotiations are already underway.
What’s the story?
Well, the France international has delivered some impressive displays since arriving on a season-long loan from Paris Saint-Germain back in July.
Now, David Moyes wants to keep Areola at the London Stadium, and talks have commenced over a deal with the French giants.
Romano believes West Ham have an option to turn the 29-year-old’s loan into a permanent deal for just £11m, which is a very reasonable fee.
However, the Hammers also have the choice to sign Areola on loan for another season, although his wages might be an issue.
Presumably, the talks with PSG are to decide which option to take.
So far this season, Areola has made 18 appearances for West Ham, in which he’s conceded 15 goals while also keeping eight clean sheets.

Specifically, the Paris-born glovesman impressed as he played every minute of West Ham’s stunning Europa League run – after missing the first clash against Dinamo Zagreb, that is.
West Ham must keep Alphonse Areola
In our view, West Ham must activate their option to buy Areola for £11m.
Łukasz Fabiański turns 38 in April, and Moyes must find a younger option for West Ham going forward.
In Areola, the Scot has an ideal option.
The Frenchman boasts Champions League experience from his time with Real Madrid and PSG, while he also has three caps for France.

Furthermore, he boasts strong Premier League experience, having spent last season on loan at Fulham.
At the age of 29, Areola – who Mark Noble rates very highly – also has many years left as a goalkeeper at the highest level.
All this for £11m? Moyes would be a fool not to trigger the option to buy.
Keep an eye on this saga, as there should soon be another update on Areola’s future soon.
