Graham Roberts was critical of Tottenham Hotspur central defender Eric Dier yesterday, as shown below on Twitter.

The former Tottenham defender had a suggestion for Dier while watching him in action against Sheffield United away from home in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.

During the second half, Roberts said that the 27-year-old was dropping off and going deep, and needed to push up.

Tottenham got the better of United 3-1 away from home to enhance their chances of winning the Premier League title this season.

How did Eric Dier play against Sheffield United?

Dier, who can also operate as a midfielder, has established himself as a key figure at the back for Spurs and is now a regular in defence.

Against the Blades on Sunday afternoon, the 27-year-old made some important blocks inside the box, but he should have done better for the goal that the home team scored.

According to WhoScored, the 27-year-old England international had a pass accuracy of 83.7%, won three headers, took 97 touches, and made one tackle and two clearances.

Dier has played 17 times in the Premier League for Spurs so far this season, according to WhoScored.
