Aston Villa fans on Twitter have been calling for Conor Hourihane to come back into the starting XI.

Villa are spoilt for choice in the midfield at the moment with talented players such as John McGinn, Ross Barkley and Douglas Luiz vying for spots.

This competition has led to Hourihane having limited chances this season, starting just twice since the start of the campaign.

Villa started the season brilliantly, but back to back losses have seen them drop down to ninth, and fans seem to think it’s time for a change in the midfield.

The change that they want to see is clear as supporters have called for Hourihane to get a go in the middle of the park.

It’s easy to see why some supporters want to see the 29-year-old get more of a chance, he has a wand of a left-foot and he’s a danger from set-pieces.

One fan stated that he wants to see Hourihane come in for the Chelsea loanee, but with the 26-year-old scoring two goals in four games so far for the Midlands outfit, it’s hard to make a case for him to be taken out of the XI.

Whether or not Hourihane does get the opportunity remains to be seen, but the fact that a number of supporters are calling for Dean Smith to make this change says a lot.
