Gary Neville has stated on Instagram live that Donny van de Beek ‘needs to go’ and leave Manchester United, amid rumours of interest from the likes of Everton and Newcastle.

It has been a year since Manchester United paid £35 million (BBC Sport) for Van de Beek’s technical talents, yet he constantly finds himself warming the bench and his talent being wasted because of a lack of game time.

With Newcastle now in the hands of the richest owners in world football, it has resulted in the Saudi-owned club from being linked with every player in Europe, and in beyond.

There have been suggestions that Van de Beek’s representatives have held talks with Newcastle over a possible move in January, but they aren’t the only ones linked.

Everton are another team looking at the Holand international, but they seemingly face competition from the likes of Juventus.

Given Van de Beek’s situation at Old Trafford, Neville had one simple message for the player.

“He hasn’t given a chance for 18 months,” said Neville. “So, you have to come to the conclusion that Ole didn’t sign him or he doesn’t fancy him.

“Neither is good for Donny van de Beek, so I think he needs to go out and play football somewhere.”

In Newcastle’s current situation, loaning Van de Beek, during the winter transfer window, could be a realistic aim.

Of course, they have to replace Steve Bruce first, who is seemingly on the brink of getting the boot and his replacement is going to be vital in which way the club go down.

From a financial perspective, the Magpies can throw money at anyone, but not many will want to join a team fighting relegation.

So, going down the loan market might be a good idea for all parties involved, including for Van de Beek in getting minutes in the North East.
