Speaking on the Seaman Says Podcast, David Seaman has been discussing Emile Smith Rowe and his England chances.
This time last year, Smith Rowe was making a real name for himself by going on a great goalscoring run for Arsenal, and eventually, his great form earned him an England cap.
From there on in, it looked as though Smith Rowe had the platform to go and establish himself as a regular for the Three Lions.
Sadly though, Smith Rowe has regressed a bit since then. Injuries have taken hold and the emergence of Gabriel Martinelli has cost him his place in the Arsenal and England team.
Seaman thoroughly believes that Smith Rowe’s time as an England star will come, but he thinks that the midfielder just needs to be a bit more consistent to cement himself as an international footballer.

Be more consistent
Seaman gave some Smith Rowe some simple advice – be more consistent.
“His time will come, it’s a little bit early. He’s not been playing for Arsenal a lot this season, but last season he had a proper purple patch season, but he needs to do it more consistently and do it for England. He has a lot of time on his side, so it will come, there’s no doubt about that,” Seaman said.
Time on his side
Seaman is absolutely right about Smith Rowe, he needs to be more consistent if he’s going to be an England player.
Luckily, at the age of just 22, time is very much on his side and consistency is something that comes with experience.
There’s no way anyone can doubt the ability that Smith Rowe possesses – it’s undeniable, but when it comes to confidence and consistency, he could improve.
Fingers crossed he becomes that player in the coming years, because he could be a star for England.
