Some Leeds United fans have taken to Twitter after watching Ben White make his Premier League debut for Brighton against Chelsea.

The 22-year-old started the game on the right side of a back three alongside Lewis Dunk and Adam Webster.

Interestingly, that is not the position in which he shone for Leeds last term, having played alongside Liam Cooper in a two-man partnership.

Brighton’s No.3 was withdrawn in the 78th minute having completed just one of his attempted six long balls, while also shipping three goals.

It was a difficult night for White, who perhaps hoped he would be making his Premier League debut at Anfield on Saturday evening instead.

Leeds saw three bids rejected for the youngster, the highest being £25 million, before turning their attention to Robin Koch.

The Englishman rejected three contract offers from Brighton before putting pen to paper on a new deal following Leeds’ third bid.

White played every minute for Leeds in their title-winning campaign, and appeared to make a real impression on Marcelo Bielsa.

Alongside Cooper, he helped the club keep 22 clean sheets in 46 league games.

He looks all set to be the Seagulls’ player this season, but that hasn’t stopped Leeds fans watching his progress from afar…
