Newcastle United’s new Saudi-led owners are reluctant to make any knee-jerk decisions as they settle at St James’ Park, per the Express, sparking some fans to react on social media.
Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, Amanda Staveley and the Reuben brothers want to get acquainted with the job now at hand, before rushing into choices they may later regret.
They view the Toon as a long-term project and want to establish strategic long-term plans for their tenure as owners. Significant investment will follow, with infrastructure changes and a new manager to replace Steve Bruce at the helm, likely soon.
The Saudi-led takeover of Newcastle is also offering agents and intermediaries a field day as they look to secure transfers. Additionally, the Express quote one intermediary as describing the situation at St James’ as ‘a lottery for football agents’.
Newcastle’s new hierarchy are actively listening to the proposals agents are making ahead of the January transfer window. But will not act on any offers made behind the scenes yet. Instead, the consortium first want to focus on establishing their off-field structure.
Newcastle intend to hire a Director of Football to oversee their activity in coming months. Reports by 90min also claim they will fire current Managing Director Lee Charnley, along with Bruce. With talks also already underway with several candidates to replace both.
