Tim Sherwood has claimed that Frank Lampard doesn’t have the personality to be Newcastle’s next manager, as he told the Kelly and Wrighty Show.
The former Premier League title-winner with Blackburn claimed that Lampard is ‘more astute’ than ‘aggressive’ amid his links with the Newcastle job.
Steve Bruce left St James’ Park last Wednesday and Graeme Jones, who is in interim charge, recorded a point at Crystal Palace in his opening game.
But whilst that stopped the flow of defeats, it’s still no win for the Magpies, as they deservedly sit in the relegation zone.
Given the situation Newcastle find themselves in, Sherwood thinks the club needs someone who is going to be ‘up and at’ the players.
“Not for me,” said Sherwood. “Personality-wise, I think Frank is more, I think if you are down the bottom of the league, you need to be up and at them.
“You need to have that personality. Be aggressive. I think Frank is a little bit more astute.”

The easy thing about Newcastle possibly appointing Lampard, 43, is that he is out-of-work after being sacked by Chelsea last season.
He does have that Premier League experience, both as a player and a manager, albeit for 18 or so months for the latter.
On one hand, with a transfer embargo and Eden Hazard leaving, he showcased his qualities to help Chelsea to a top-four finish, whilst bringing through youngsters like Mason Mount.
Then he spent a load of money and didn’t seem to have any idea in how to push the now European champions forward, and given splashing big cash is going to be the theme in the North East, then perhaps going for Lampard isn’t the right call.
