George Marsh could be in line for a Premier League debut with Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho admitting to Football London that the young midfielder has played a part in his ‘Project Re-start’ preparations.
At the age of 21, many a Spurs fanatic could have worried that a talented academy graduate might have missed the boat in north London.
But, as Harry Kane and Harry Winks have proved, your chances of making a breakthrough at a Premier League giant are not dead as soon as you leave your teenage years behind.
Marsh has only featured once for Spurs’ first-team – in a 7-0 FA Cup thrashing of Tranmere Rovers over a year ago – but the Kent-born youngster could be about to force his way into Mourinho’s plans with the Premier League season set to be resumed this week.
A cultured midfielder with a fine passing range, Marsh was enjoying a stand-out loan spell at Leyton Orient before the League Two season was brought to a premature conclusion.
And, speaking after a friendly clash with Norwich City, Mourinho admitted that Marsh was in his plans.

“Today (vs Norwich) was more about competing, minutes, intensity,” the former Manchester United and Chelsea boss explains.
“In the last period we played some of the young boys, even George Marsh, who was playing for Leyton Orient, but joined us for this period of preparation where we need numbers.
“It was very important to do it and to go into this last week without any injuries, because we all know in these first matches, even friendlies, there is always the risk of getting injuries.”
With each and every Premier League club offered the opportunity to make five substitutions per game, do not be surprised if Marsh is brought off the bench at some point to add some energy and control to proceedings.
