Brendan Rodgers’s Celtic reportedly want to sign Daniel Arzani on loan once the Melbourne City star moved to Manchester City in the summer transfer window.
Ned Zelic has told The Glasgow Evening Times that Daniel Arzani will be a success at Celtic.
According to Herald Scotland, Celtic are interested in signing Arzani on loan once the Australia international completes his move from Melbourne City to Manchester City in the summer transfer window.
The Glasgow Evening Times has claimed that Premier League champions City will pay the A-League club a transfer fee of £1.5 million in order to secure the services of the Australia international, who can operate as an attacking midfielder or as a winger.
Former Australia international and Queens Park Rangers player Zelic has backed Arzani to be a success at Celtic.
Meanwhile, former Celtic striker Chris Sutton has wondered whether manager Brendan Rodgers is involved in the potential signing of Arzani.
Zelic told The Glasgow Evening Times about Arzani: “I don’t think he will be a long-term project for Celtic. He has blossomed into a really exciting player this year.
“He is only 19, but we have seen players perform at the highest level in Europe at that age. I don’t think he needs time to adapt. I think he has shown enough already to suggest he is ready.”
Sutton wrote in The Daily Record regarding Rodgers’s recent comments about Arzani: “Maybe it was a slip of the tongue. Maybe he didn’t mean that. Maybe he meant he ‘thinks’ negotiations are moving on.
“But saying I can’t tell you anything about him and all I know is he’s a talented young Australian player seems, well, odd.
“Does this mean Rodgers is getting players for his squad he doesn’t know? Does this mean he’s getting a player not as good as one he wants and having to make do? Only he can answer that, not me. The words were certainly bizarre at best.”
Good signing for Celtic?
Arzani is a very talented and promising young attacking player, and the Australia international would be a good signing for Celtic.
Although the Hoops do have quality attacking players, the Glasgow giants will only become better with the addition of the 19-year-old.
