Following his breakthrough season at Liverpool, midfielder Tyler Morton has left the club on loan to join Championship side Blackburn Rovers – prompting reaction from numerous players including Fabinho and Neco Williams.
Morton, 19, clocked up nine senior Liverpool appearances during the 2021-22 campaign – his first games for the Reds. It included a brilliant performance in the San Siro against AC Milan to win 2-1, despite a weakened side.

Indeed, the holding midfielder’s potential is enormous. Jurgen Klopp once said that if he adds some physicality to his game, he could be “brilliant”. Now, he leaves on loan to get some much-needed regular first-team football.
He joins Jon Dahl Tomasson’s Blackburn side, where he is likely to start more games than not. Morton took to Instagram on Monday after a loan was confirmed, describing the Championship outfit as a “big club”.
Morton has left Liverpool: Williams and Fabinho reaction
Liverpool do have options in holding midfield, but losing Morton as cover might tempt the Reds to look at signing another player. They have Jordan Henderson and Fabinho, as well as James Milner.
But Fabinho is prone to the odd injury, as is Henderson – while Milner is often filling in other positions. At 37, he is hardly going to be relied upon to play week in, week out. Liverpool could do with another midfield body.
For Morton, it was important he got out on loan to gain regular first-team exposure. It will see him return to Liverpool a more-accomplished player. Plenty responded to his move, including Williams, Fabinho and Calvin Ramsay.
