The latest regarding the alleged Leeds United target and his current club.

The Yorkshire Evening Post has published an update on Leeds United’s potential move for NEC Nijmegen player Anthony Limbombe.

The report states that Leeds made a £1.5million bid for the 21-year-old left winger earlier this month but have yet to increase it.

And now NEC director Bart van Ingen has made a statement regarding the future of the young Belgian.

Speaking to Omroep Gelderland, van Ingen said of the alleged Leeds target, “Anthony is an employee at the club and we have reminded him of his responsibilities. We are in discussions and we are not looking for conflict.

“There is no concrete offer. If we can get capital which we can reinvest then we do that. If it’s not at the level we want, he continues to play.”

Limbombe is predominantly a left winger although he can also play on the opposite flank if required, and if he does arrive it will show Leeds’ desire to bring in additional width despite the recent addition of Stuart Dallas.

The former Brentford player has settled well at Elland Road but more exciting wide players will surely go down well among the Leeds faithful.

To date Limbombe has played 38 times for Nijmegen, scoring 16 goals and providing 11 assists. Prior to that he played for fellow Belgian club Racing Genk, coming through the youth ranks and spending a brief spell on loan at Lierse SK where he scored two goals in just seven games.
