Tottenham Hotspur may have finished the season trophyless but they had a brilliant campaign at White Hart Lane, again challenging for the Premier League title. Many players had excellent seasons at Spurs – with Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen all in great form. As was Heung-min Son.

The South Korean scored 21 times this season in 47 appearances, becoming a vital player for boss Mauricio Pochettino. It was quite the turnaround for the South Korean international, who almost found himself moved on by Spurs last summer.

He struggled in his first season at White Hart Lane and speaking to the Yonhap News Agency in in his homeland Son spoke of the impact his poor form had on his state of mind:

“I feel like I am still young and have a lot more to learn.

“I know my career is just beginning. After the season ended, I couldn’t get to sleep, knowing I could have played better. But overall, I learned a lot this season.”

The Telegraph reported that Tottenham were preparing to sell Son if they could recoup the £22 million they spent on the player. VfL Wolfsburg tried to bring the former Bayer Leverkusen man back to Germany but Tottenham ended up keeping hold of him and it has proven to be a good call from the North London club.

Son will now hope to build on his form yet again next season, as Spurs look to turn their greatness into silverware.
