Newcastle fans have taken to Twitter to react after Mehrdad Ghodoussi inadvertently tricked them into thinking something positive had happened regarding the takeover.
Ghodoussi – husband of Amanda Staveley – responded to a tweet from Boris Johnson, in which the Prime Minister had replied to an eight-year-old’s letter asking if Santa Claus could still deliver presents.
After seeing that the answer to this child’s question was yes, Ghodoussi tweeted ‘finally some good news’ which was clearly taken the wrong way by some Newcastle fans.
The St James’ Park faithful have been on tenterhooks over recent months as they await developments regarding the takeover.
The Premier League rejected a bid from PCP Capital Partners – which Staveley owns – the Reuben Brothers and the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia (PIF), based on its Owners and Directors test.
In response, Mike Ashley hired leading lawyers to challenge the decision as Sky News revealed.
Additionally, the likes of Ghodoussi and Jamie Reuben have continued to engage with Newcastle supporters on Twitter as covered by Geordie Boot Boys.
The stakeholders involved in the initial rejected bid clearly haven’t lost interest, nor have the Magpies supporters who seem desperate for this proposed takeover to go through.
