Jose Enrique thinks Darwin Nunez to Liverpool is ‘nearly done’ after claims that the Manchester United transfer target has already ‘spoken to players’ at Anfield.

The former left-back added on Twitter that he thinks Liverpool will ‘announce soon’ that they have signed the Benfica star – Manchester United are looking to hijack a deal for the player.

With rumours growing that Sadio Mane wants to leave Liverpool this summer for Bayern Munich, it has forced the club to react.

Whilst Luis Diaz arrived during the January transfer window, and made quite the impact, those on Merseyside still feel that another player is needed to come in if Mane leaves.

Well, with suggestions that Nunez is heading to the Premier League, this is what Enrique had to say about the player possibly talking to the current Liverpool players.

NUNEZ WOULD EASE MANE SALE

Whatever happens with Mane, the Reds have to react because, just like Mo Salah, they are both out-of-contract next summer.

So, rather than wait until they are gone, reacting and preparing for their probable departure is the right thing to do.

Nunez’s potential arrival would be a risk, just like Diaz, but with Jurgen Klopp in the dugout, he should be trusted.

He has transformed Mane, Salah, Andy Robertson, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Roberto Firmino, to name a few.

Before they joined the club, or made their first-team debuts, none of them were seen as world-class talents.

But that has changed over the years, with their Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup and League Cup trophies as proof of that.
