Glenn Hoddle has suggested on BT Sport 1 (5:22pm, September 18, 2021) that Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Tanguy Ndombele needs to get a better understanding of the game.

The former Tottenham star rates Ndombele highly, but he wants the France international midfielder to get to know and understand his role better.

Hoddle said about Ndombele on BT Sport 1 (5:22pm, September 18, 2021), as transcribed by Football.London: “At the moment, I don’t know. I like him.

“There’s a player in there, but how long is it going to take for him to understand the game week in and week out?

“It’s almost like he wants to be back in the playground as a youngster, toying with another player.

“Football is about end product and when you’re a midfield player you have got to provide and you’ve got to be a creator if you’re not an out-and-out goalscorer.

“You’ve got to play positive and you’ve got to feed people. When he does that sort of thing, he’s different class.”

Important player for Tottenham Hotspur

Ndombele reportedly wanted to leave Tottenham in the summer transfer window, but that is in the past now.

The 24-year-old is at Spurs, until January at least, and it is important that he and head coach Nuno work together in the coming weeks and months.

The midfielder is a very good player who can drive the team forward and create chances.

Perhaps Ndombele needs to have defined role in the team.

Spurs boss Nuno needs to find the best position for the France international and give him a run of games.

Spurs are aiming to finish in the top four of the Premier League and need to be able to call upon all of their players.

Ndombele has been at Spurs since 2019, and he will have a role to play for Tottenham as the season progresses.
