The 2025-26 NBA season ended in heartbreak for Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and the Oklahoma City Thunder as they failed to defend their NBA Championship.
Since then, Gilgeous-Alexander has kept a relatively low profile, but fans finally saw what the OKC star had been up to during Canada’s FIBA World Cup qualifier game against Puerto Rico.

Being one of the top players in the NBA, everything that SGA does impacts his fans, including his hairstyle. For years, the Thunder star kept his signature braids and cornrows.
However, during the Canada vs. Puerto Rico game, Gilgeous-Alexander walked onto the court without them, and it wreaked havoc among fans.
“My boy turning over that new leaf… he just shaved his head,” a fan wrote. While another added, “He looks great without braids.”
“This dude has zero swag lol. Only people who can’t dress think he does,” a third fan took aim at SGA’s fashion sense.
“Please tell me this is fake,” a fourth fan begged. While a fifth fan claimed, “Looks like a bench player, I’m crying.”
All things considered, most fans were disappointed to see Gilgeous-Alexander give up on his iconic hairstyle after several years.
