The blockbuster trade between the Houston Rockets and Phoenix Suns is yet to be finalized.
After all, the trade will be officially recognized on July 06, 2025, when the NBA’s free agency period officially begins.
Speaking of the trade, the Rockets acquired Kevin Durant in exchange for Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks, the 10th pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, and five future second-round draft picks.
However, a new development has been reported regarding the blockbuster deal.
Kevin Durant to Houston Rockets trade could expand to a seven-team deal
While acquiring KD is in itself a humongous trade, the Rockets are apparently planning to make NBA history with the deal.
According to The Athletic’s Fred Katz, the KD trade could expand to a historic seven-team deal.

“The Rockets and Suns are working on expanding the Kevin Durant trade into a deal that would involve a league-record seven teams,” Katz wrote.
He added: “Other teams involved in negotiations at the moment include the Atlanta Hawks, Brooklyn Nets, Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Lakers, and Minnesota Timberwolves, league sources say.
“No trade is imminent, and details are being ironed out as of Wednesday night.”
The inclusion of the likes of the Lakers and Warriors has certainly opened up potential moves around big-name NBA stars.
Kevin O’Connor suggests LeBron James and Jimmy Butler could be traded
If the historic move finalizes, NBA insider Kevin O’Connor has predicted a huge move that could see the LA Lakers’ LeBron James and the Warriors’ Jimmy Butler be moved around.

“If you really want to get crazy, you could say that the KD to Houston deal involving Phoenix is not done yet. Still you could add a third or fourth team. Well, Phoenix wanted Butler,” O’Connor said.

“So, maybe you send LeBron and Bronny James to Golden State, Jimmy Butler to Phoenix, Kevin Durant to Houston, and then, Jalen Green and Dillon Brooks to the Lakers,” he added.
Even though the likelihood of this move happening is incredibly low, Katz’s report has certainly made fans think about it.
