Thiago had one of his best games for Liverpool this season on Saturday evening, as Jurgen Klopp’s side beat Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal 3-0 at the Emirates Stadium.

The Spain international central midfielder showed his class and finesse in the middle of the park, as Liverpool deservedly picked up all three points from the Premier League game.

Former Manchester United defender Gary Neville was on co-commentary duty for the match for Sky Sports, and in the second half, he noticed Thiago do something ‘naughty’ to Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette.

In the 57th minute of the match, Arsenal star Lacazette went down under a challenge from Thiago.

It was a needless challenge really as Liverpool did not appear to be in danger, as Thiago committed a foul on the Frenchman, who went down holding his foot and seemingly hurt.

Neville described Thiago’s action as naughty, and said on Sky Sports Football (9:17pm, April 3, 2021): “He has got that Scholes’s naughtiness about him, Thiago, in that one where he gets the ball but a little follow-though that just tends to land on the foot more often than not.”

It is one of those things that happen in all football matches, but it demonstrated Thiago’s determination to show the opponent that despite being a silky player, he can do things the hard way.

With Fabinho now back playing in midfield, Thiago could regain the kind of form he showed when he was at Bayern Munich.
