Liverpool defensive midfielder Fabinho was in action for Brazil against Cameroon at the 2022 Qatar World Cup on Friday evening, and his performance did not impress his nation’s media.
Brazil took on Cameroon in their final Group G match, with head coach Tite making a lot of changes to the team.
Manchester United star Casemiro is the main defensive midfielder for Brazil, but Tite decided to play Liverpool ace Fabinho instead.
Brazil were already assured of a place in the Round of 16 at the 2022 Qatar World Cup before the match against Cameroon.
Liverpool midfielder Fabinho disappoints for Brazil
Fabinho has not been in great form for Liverpool this season, and the £39 million (BBC Sport) star’s performance for Brazil against Cameroon left much to be desired.

The midfielder played a lot too safe, and his backward passing really prevented the Brazil team from driving forward.
It was a largely disappointing performance from a player who can do so much more and is such a brilliant footballer.
Brazil lost 1-0 to Cameroon.
Brazilian news outlet Jogada10 gave Fabinho 5.5 out of 10 in their player ratings.
The outlet said about Fabinho: “He was good in the containment, but he didn’t have much prominence. He could have done better when Cameroon scored.”
It is safe to assume that Liverpool defensive midfielder Fabinho will be dropped for Brazil’s last-16 game against South Korea, with Casemiro coming back into the team.
