Danish media have handed Tottenham midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg a 6/6 rating for his sparkling performance in the middle of the park as Denmark beat World Cup champions France 2-0 on Sunday evening in the Nations League.
Hojbjerg, 27, has enjoyed a wonderful start to the season for Tottenham. Playing every minute of Tottenham’s opening nine games under Antonio Conte, Hojbjerg continued his superb form in the red of Denmark during the break.
One of his side’s best in a defeat by Croatia earlier last week, Hojbjerg covered every blade of grass against France – in what was his 60th Denmark cap. Goals from Kasper Dolberg and Andreas Skov Olsen saw Denmark cruise to a 2-0 win.
That is despite the level of opponent, boasting the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Antoine Griezmann and Olivier Giroud. BT handed Hojbjerg a 6/6 rating, claiming any manager would love to have a player of his work rate in their team.
“The general has French ancestry, but a Danish heart. Red and white are pumping. Any boss would love to have a worker like Højbjerg. With that effort, he could have built all the World Cup stadiums in Qatar in record time.”

What a performance from Tottenham’s midfield general. Tiredness does not seem to be an option. Last season, Hojbjerg clocked up 59 appearances for club and country. This season, he has 11 already – 90 minutes every time.
Linked with a £58million move to Real Madrid, it is easy to see why Hojbjerg would have admirers. But the midfielder is clearly producing some of the best form of his career. Under Conte, is becoming better and better.
One thing is utterly clear. Hojbjerg has become as undroppable as Harry Kane, Hugo Lloris, Eric Dier and Son Heung-min in Tottenham’s side – although Son was rotated against Leicester, coming on to score a hat-trick.
