Danish media outlet BT have criticised winger Andreas Skov Olsen for his performance in Denmark’s 1-0 defeat to Australia – amid reports that Tottenham have been scouting Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s teammate while in Qatar.
Skov Olsen, 22, has been in sensational form coming into the World Cup. A disappointing spell at Serie A side Bologna saw him move to Club Brugge in January. He has been excellent since, having a hand in 27 goals in 38 Brugge games.
That has seemingly convinced Tottenham to take a look at Skov Olsen while in Qatar. Het Nieuwsblad report as much. Hojbjerg is a big fan of his National teammate, comparing him to Ryan Giggs and branding his style as “old-school”.
After starting against Tunisia in Denmark’s opening match, a 0-0 draw, Skov Olsen was an unused sub against France. But he came back into the side on Wednesday afternoon. However, Denmark were awful – losing 1-0 to Australia.
A defeat that sees Australia go through behind France, and Denmark crash out early. Hojbjerg was heavily criticised in Danish media. Skov Olsen has been, too. BT gave him a 1/6 rating, claiming a good start lasted for a matter of minutes.

“Back in the team after missing France. After a few minutes he drew a yellow card on his closest opponents, and the good start continued for … two minutes. For the rest of the time he was on the pitch, there was no national team level.”
Danish media criticise Skov Olsen amid Tottenham scouting reports
Judging by his club form, Skov Olsen would be a tidy signing to act as cover for Son Heung-min – and Dejan Kulusevski. Spurs lack a player that can come in and replace the creativity of Kulusevski. Skov Olsen could do that.
His assists for Club Brugge, albeit, in Belgian football is very impressive. He has also scored goals and laid on assists in the Champions League. Brugge paid a bargain £5million to sign him in January and that could help Spurs get him.
It might mean that Brugge are willing to accept a fee of a smaller profit margin – than if they had bought him for say, £20million. But if Spurs scouts were watching Skov Olsen in the World Cup, they will not be very impressed.
