Rasmus Kristensen played almost the entire match as Denmark produced a stunning performance to beat World Cup champions France 2-0 on Sunday evening – and Danish media have given their verdict on the Leeds star’s display.
Coming into the match having struggled during a loss to Croatia during his 30-minute cameo role, Kristensen was handed a start. Winning his tenth cap, the 25-year-old produced an incredibly solid display for his national team.
A slightly nervous start, perhaps given his performance against Croatia and his early-season form at Leeds, Kristensen improved. WhoScored report that he clocked up a successful pass rate of 90%, attempting 59 passes to teammates.
Not only that, but he made five tackles and three interceptions, more than any of his other teammates could manage. This while coming up against the likes of Kylian Mbappe and Antoine Griezmann. BT gave their verdict after the game.
The Danish outlet handed him four out of six stars. They report that he was the victim of a “big laugh” when he failed to control a long ball early on, but got up to speed and finished the game strongly – like the rest of his side.
“Victim of a big laugh when he completely mistimed a high ball that looked like a paper airplane thrown from the Eiffel Tower. But he landed on his feet and raced to the finish line on the Champs-Élysées in the same time as his team.”

Good news for Leeds. Jesse Marsch will have been hoping that Kristensen goes away during the international break and builds up some confidence, and he certainly did that against France. Wonderful performance from the Leeds man.
Kristensen himself has admitted he has struggled with the rigour of the Premier League. Going from Austria, to England, is a big step up. But there are signs that he is capable of adapting and Sunday evening was an example.
Perhaps, this could be the kickstart Kristensen required to get his Leeds form going. Although, with Luke Ayling back, it will be interesting to see who Marsch starts when Leeds host Aston Villa on Sunday afternoon, at Elland Road.
