Joe Rodon continues to struggle on loan at Rennes as he was substituted on 69 minutes during a 3-1 loss to Toulouse on Sunday – and French media outlet Maxi Foot have blasted the Tottenham defender, handing him a 2/10 rating.
Rodon, 24, clocked up his 20th game for Rennes since joining the club on loan from Spurs last summer. There have been some highs – his stunning display in a win over PSG. Or, his first-ever professional goal in a 3-1 win over Brest.
But largely, Rodon has really struggled. His form since the World Cup has been notably poor. On Sunday, he started once again in the middle of the Rennes defence. But they came up against an in-form Toulouse, away from home.
Toulouse, though, sit well behind Rennes in the Ligue 1 table. So, Rennes will have been expecting to get a good result. But Toulouse cruised to victory and Wales defender Rodon struggled with Djed Spence to his right. He got 2/10 rating.

A failed performance for the central defender of Rennes. In difficulty on the Toulouse counterattacks, the Welshman was too easily caught by Fares Chaïbi’s deep appeal on the opener from Ratao,” French site Maxi Foot report.
Later in the game, the player on loan from Tottenham disappointed again with a big wait-and-see attitude on TFC’s second goal. In the duels, he was too absent with a shot between his legs for Thijs Dallinga. Subbed on 69 minutes.”

It is an intriguing one as to where Tottenham will stand, when Rodon returns from his loan. Spurs need centre-backs, but Rodon is not performing consistently. Another bad display on Sunday will not have gone amiss at Tottenham.
The likelihood is that Rodon will return to Spurs and be placed on the transfer list. A way of raising funds at Spurs in order to bring in a new centre-back – with the likes of Alessandro Bastoni and Piero Hincapie being linked with Spurs.
