Danish outlet BT have applauded Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg for his superb display on Tuesday night as Denmark eased past Serbia to win 3-0. The Tottenham star covered ‘every blade of grass’, earning a 5/6 rating.

Hojbjerg, 26, is getting back to his best at Tottenham under Antonio Conte after a recent dip in form. The midfielder showed it in Copenhagen on Tuesday night, as Denmark cruised to victory – in Christian Eriksen’s return.

The ex-Spurs star started his first Denmark match since suffering cardiac arrest at Euro 2020 – returning to the Copenhagen stadium. Eriksen scored a sensational third, after goals from Joakim Maehle and Jasper Lindstrom.

Hojbjerg’s perseverance and perfect weight of pass set up Lindstrom for the second, before being substituted after 67 minutes. BT were full of praise in their verdict on the player, handing him five stars out of a possible six.

“Another day in the office. He had plenty of possession and got involved in everything – even arguing with Serbs. Power plant Pierre covered all blades of grass. The press and the assist for 2-0 tells everything about Højbjerg.”

Hojbjerg shines: Denmark star is returning to early Tottenham form

Hojbjerg joined Tottenham in the summer of 2020 and was fantastic in a poor Spurs side under Jose Mourinho. He has emerged as a real leader, one of the driving forces at Spurs. But of late, his form had taken a tumble.

It saw him benched against Wolves, resulting in a 2-0 defeat at Molineux. But since then, Spurs have won five of their last seven Premier League matches and Hojbjerg has played every minute. He is back to his best.
