Paraguay coach Guillermo Barros Schelotto is delighted by Enso Gonzalez’s reported £5 million move from Libertad to Premier League outfit Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Few clubs in England’s top flight will have a busier final 48 hours than Gary O’Neil’s Wolves. With Matheus Nunes’ departure to Manchester City finally freeing up funds and easing the club’s well-publicised Financial Fair Play concerns, don’t be surprised if you struggle to keep track of all the business the men from Molineux conclude between now and the deadline.
Wolves are set to sign Santiago Bueno from Girona. They have made big bids for Ligue 1 duo Jean-Ricner Bellegarde and Habib Diarra. Enso Gonzalez, meanwhile, will to undergo a medical in the Black Country with Wolves stumping up £5 million for an 18-year-old forward who played 30 first-team games for Libertad last season.

Gonzalez follows in the footsteps of Julio Enciso; the former Libertad starlet who joined Brighton in 2022 and has blossomed into one of the most exciting forwards in the Premier League.
And Schelotto insists that Gonzalez’s impending switch to England will only boost his prospects of forcing his way into the senior Paraguay set up ahead of the 2024 Copa America.
Wolves to sign Enso Gonzalez from Libertad
“In recent years, Julio Enciso and Enso Gonzalez have left for the Premier League. And the signals this gives to Paraguay are clear. We must support players in academies,” Schelotto tells ABC.
“We must develop them. The impact this has is that they play for the national team.”
Gonzalez, a talented wide forward who loves nothing more than carrying the ball at pace, could be a snip at just £5 million. His agent, meanwhile, confirmed that Wolves fought off competition from Serie A giants AS Roma for the teenager’s signature.

“I am very happy with the news of the transfer,” Roberto Paredes, Libertad’s talent scout, tells D10.
“English football is going to give him a tactical understanding. In the youth team, he played more as a midfielder, in the number 10 position. And, in the First Division, we see him higher up playing with the striker.”
