After Czech Republic drew 0-0 to Moldova in a Euro 2024 qualifier, West Ham United duo Vladimir Coufal and Tomas Soucek were slated by the national media.

Considering it was expected to be a routine victory for Czech Republic, several fans were livid seeing their side succumb to a draw against the 174th ranked team, according to FIFA.

On the other hand, the Czechs are ranked as high as 38th, which made the national media express their frustrations about the result towards West Ham United pair Vladimir Coufal and Tomas Soucek.

National media blast Coufal and Soucek for international outings

Both Coufal and Soucek have not particularly kicked on after turning heads during the 2020/2021 season, where the Czech twosome were branded as two potential Premier League Team of the Season candidates by many.

The former has been defensively suspect ever since while not offering much going forward, while the latter’s game is simply too limited for a team that was initially trying to qualify for Europe once again.

As Vladimir Coufal and Tomas Soucek looked out of their depths for against Moldova, Idnes, one of the prominent national media outlets in Czech Republic let the readers rate the pair, giving each a poor 4 rating.

For context, the lower the rating, the better as per the website’s rating regulations, and the Hammers duo were rated as the two ‘worst’ Czech players alongside Fiorentina’s Antonin Barak.

The pair need to pull their socks up and fast

A whole host of West Ham fans will likely back the national media outlet when it comes to the final ratings, as both Vladimir Coufal and Tomas Soucek have been way off the pace for two years now.

While the excuse on can make at club level is that the standard of the Premier League is immensely high, the same cannot be said about international clashes as these.

If the pair do not step their games up, one questions which sides will line up for their signatures.
