Liverpool now have several intriguing options at right-back.

Liverpool’s vast resources in attack and defence have been well documented, but manager Jurgen Klopp could soon have a very difficult selection decision to make in attack.
With Nathaniel Clyne out with a long-term back injury, Klopp has given opportunities to youngsters Joe Gomez and Trent Alexander-Arnold at right-back this season.
Both players have been rather impressive, with Gomez catching the eye to such an extent that he was drafted into the England squad, while Alexander-Arnold scored a fine goal in the victory over Swansea City yesterday and has produced some encouraging displays.

Clyne is likely to return to action in February but it is now questionable whether the 26-year-old warrants a regular place in the starting lineup given how impressive Alexander-Arnold and especially Gomez have been.
During his time at Liverpool, Clyne has impressed in patches and is highly regarded by Klopp.
However, Gomez has performed consistently this campaign, making some fine interceptions and demonstrating that he is unfazed by performing against high-profile opponents.

Alexander-Arnold, meanwhile, perhaps offers the most significant attacking threat out of the trio, and Klopp will have to think carefully about which player to place his faith in.
At present, it appears that Gomez is the best option, although one possible solution to the issue would be to deploy him at centre-back, which would allow Clyne and Alexander-Arnold to compete for the right-back berth.
