Rangers defender Nathan Patterson continued his meteoric rise with his first senior cap for Scotland in tonight’s win over Luxembourg in their final Euro 2020 warm-up – and fans already want the teenager to start for Steve Clarke’s side when the tournament gets underway.

Patterson replaced Motherwell’s Stephen O’Donnell with just under 30 minutes left, impressing fans with his direct running at the host’s defenders and willingness to make a tackle.
While O’Donnell has been the first-choice at right-back in Clarke’s side, Patterson’s emergence at Ibrox already had Rangers fans clamouring to see him in the Dark Blue of Scotland this summer.
Scotland’s first visit to a major tournament for the first time since 1998 already has fans excited and the emergence of Patterson and Billy Gilmour as proper challengers for starting places has only added to that.
Despite only making his debut for Scotland under-21s last September, Patterson will now become the youngest player to be part of a Scotland squad at a major tournament ever.
Fans watching the win over Luxembourg were impressed with the Rangers Academy graduates international debut and now want to see him named in the starting XI in eight days’ time when Scotland face Czech Republic at Hampden.
Here are some of the comments from fans on Twitter who want to see Patterson start at Euro 2020:
