Rangers right-back Nathan Patterson was in action for Scotland tonight, and even some Celtic fans were impressed by the Ibrox defender, as you can see from the tweets below.

What’s the story?

Patterson featured for Scotland in their 2022 World Cup qualifier against Moldova this evening.

The Rangers defender is a right-back by trade, but against Moldova, the 19-year-old started on the right in a more advanced position in front of a back-three, as reported by BBC Sport.

The teenager made a rather nervous start and was not particularly great with his passing.

However, Patterson grew into the game and was heavily involved in the goal that Lyndon Dykes scored in the 13th minute.

Patterson broke from an interception near the halfway line and played a nice give-and-go with Kevin Nisbet on the edge of the Moldova penalty box.

The Rangers right-back’s first-time shot was saved, but Dykes followed up at the back post with an easy tap-in.

Scotland won 1-0.

What are Rangers and Celtic fans saying?

As you can see from the tweets below, Rangers and Celtic fans were impressed by Patterson’s performance.

Well, some of them anyway.

Rangers and Celtic are bitter Old Firm rivals, and it is really encouraging to see the Hoops supporters praise Patterson.

It shows just how good the Rangers right-back was against Scotland tonight.

Patterson took two shots, had a pass accuracy of 77.6%, took 85 touches, attempted one dribble, made one tackle, three interceptions and two clearances, and put in three crosses.
