The former Tottenham Hotspur winger has seen a title challenge capitulate and a knee injury scupper his progress since making a move.
While winger Nathan Oduwa had struggled to make any impact at Tottenham Hotspur prior to his exit, it was still somewhat surprising to see him swap Spurs for Slovenian side Olimpija Ljubljana earlier this year.
The 21-year-old was highly rated at White Hart Lane and some fans were sad to see him leave while the likes of Josh Onomah continue to get chances.
Unfortunately for Oduwa, things have not gone according to plan since his transfer and it may not be until next season that he shows what he is capable of.
The former Tottenham player suffered defeats in his first two outings for Olimpija and he has been side-lined ever since with knee inflammation.
That means Oduwa has missed seven consecutive matches to date and he will be kicking himself that – for now at least – he has been unable to make up for lost time.
His time will come, and such is his talent that he could ultimately move back to England and prove Tottenham were wrong not to give him chances when he was on their books, but this season could prove to be a write-off.
Worse still, Oduwa joined Olimpija with the Slovenian side in the midst of a title challenge but since his arrival – when they were just three points off top spot – they have fallen an alarming 16 points off the pace.
