The Baggies academy graduate and West Brom boyhood fan scored his first goal for The Hawthorns side this weekend as Slaven Bilic and co went top of the Championship.

West Bromwich Albion defender Nathan Ferguson has taken to Twitter with a heartfelt message following his first goal for his boyhood club, opening the scoring for the Baggies as they ran out 2-0 winners away at Queens Park Rangers in Saturday’s early Championship kickoff.
The 18-year-old put in an impressive display at at left-back and scored his maiden West Brom goal early in the second half, beating Joe Lumley at his near post with a long-range effort after marauding forward from his own half.
Ferguson’s deadlock-breaker was followed by Matheus Pereira’s killer second goal for Albion – also his first for Slaven Bilic’s side – via a free kick, QPR unable to muster a response as the Hawthorns side went top of the Championship, remaining there following full time in the 3pm kickoffs as Leeds United fell to defeat at Charlton Athletic.
The teenager has enjoyed a swift upward trajectory and, following a very memorable afternoon, he posted the following message on social media:
A player who very quickly impressed Bilic following his arrival at The Hawthorns, Ferguson made his Albion debut in the Croat’s first game as Albion head coach, winning man of the match in the 2-1 Championship win at Nottingham Forest, the West Brom website citing the boss as an admirer of the player.
Ferguson was a regular for West Brom’s Under-23s throughout the 2018-19 season after spending pre-season with the first-team, while this term he has played eight appearances for the Baggies, all in the Championship (Transfermarkt).
