Tottenham Hotspur continue to be linked with Bournemouth’s Nathan Ake.
Bournemouth defender Nathan Ake has told the Bournemouth Echo that he is enjoying his time with the club amid rumours of a move to Tottenham Hotspur.
Ake, 24, starred in a loan spell with Bournemouth during the 2016-17 season having found first-team football hard to come by at Chelsea, and left the Blues permanently at the end of the season in order to join Bournemouth again.
The Dutchman has continued to impress under Eddie Howe, and he is now a regular in the Netherlands international squad – even if he is stuck behind Virgil van Dijk, Stefan de Vrij and Matthijs de Ligt in the pecking order.
Unsurprisingly, Ake is attracting interest of the back of his Bournemouth displays, and Sky Sports recently reported that Tottenham Hotspur are particularly keen on signing him.
Spurs are looking for an heir to Jan Vertonghen, so a left-footed, ball-playing centre back is on Mauricio Pochettino’s radar, with Ake fitting the bill perfectly.
Just three weeks ago, Ake was asked by Voetbal International whether he has already agreed a move to London, seemingly about Tottenham, and he denied any notion of that.
Now, Ake has reassured Bournemouth fans again, telling them ‘don’t be worried’ as he is loving his football on the South Coast and isn’t paying too much attention to speculation right now.
“I am enjoying my time at Bournemouth. It is so good,” said Ake. “I am playing, the manager is helping me a lot and the fans are good as well. They are always behind us so no, don’t be worried.”
“It is speculation. It is papers. If something is true it is praise that you are doing something right but just keep doing the same, trying to play well for Bournemouth and see what happens,” he added.
