Liverpool defender Nat Phillips has admitted that Andy Robertson is jealous of him after securing a move to Celtic.
Andy Robertson was playing Celtic songs as Liverpool teammate Nat Phillips secured a move to Parkhead.
Celtic pounced late in the summer transfer window to secure the signing of Phillips.
Many expected Liverpool to sell the 26-year-old after struggling for first-team football last season.
Phillips played just two Premier League games and his first-team prospects didn’t look any better for this term.
Rather than sell Phillips, Liverpool loaned him out again as Celtic pounced after previous loan spells with Stuttgart and Bournemouth.
Nat Phillips comments on Andy Robertson reaction
The deal means a lot to Liverpool teammate Andy Robertson, who absolutely bleeds Celtic.
The left back was in the Celtic ranks as a kid but was released as a teenager for allegedly being too small.
Glasgow-born Robertson has gone on to become a superstar but still holds Celtic very close to his heart.
Phillips has now told the Daily Record that Robertson actually seems pretty jealous of his move to Celtic.
Phillips added that Robertson was singing Celtic songs to him as he drove up to Glasgow, presumably calling him on the way up to Parkhead.
“At Liverpool Robbo was really excited for me. He was a bit jealous! He was singing Celtic songs as I was driving up,” said Phillips.

Glasgow football in the Phillips family
Phillips is in a fairly unique position as he prepares to kick-start his Celtic career.
The defender’s father, Jimmy, joined Rangers in the late 1980’s and made 25 league appearances for the club before heading to Oxford.
That was some time before Phillips was even born, but he will be well aware of his father’s connection to Rangers.
Phillips wasn’t able to play against Rangers before the international break but he will be featuring in Old Firm derbies soon enough.
There may be some split loyalties in the Phillips family when those games arrive, but Celtic’s new man will only be thinking about the Bhoys.
