Napoli boss Rafa Benitez is reportedly keen to add former Arsenal flop Carlos Vela to his squad in the January transfer window.
Carlos Vela has rebuilt his career at Real Sociedad but he is going through a tough spell and Napoli may prove a way out.
The Mexican who can play as a right-winger or a striker was seen as an exciting prospect when Arsenal pounced for him in November 2005.
Vela first got a chance to wear an Arsenal shirt in 2008 after loan spells at Salamanca and Osasuna, but injuries and a failure to adapt to Premier League football meant he could only score three times in 29 outings for the Gunners.
After a loan spell at West Brom, Vela was sold to Real Sociedad for around £2.5 million following a successful loan spell.
In Spain, Vela has finally shown some of his potential and has a decent total of 31 goals in 75 games for Sociedad, but reports suggest that he wants to leave after what has been a poor start to the season despite a shock win over Real Madrid.
Benitez reportedly wanted to sign Vela when he first arrived at Napoli but was unsuccessful.
