Napoli are reportedly working on tying Kim Min-jae down to a new contract amid English clubs asking for information on the centre-back, with Tottenham one of the sides interested in signing the South Korean star.
According to CalcioMercato, top clubs from the Premier League have been asking about Napoli’s new superstar defender which has prompted the Serie A league leaders to step up their efforts to sign Kim to a new contract, with the centre-back only joining the Italian giants this summer from Fenerbahce.
Despite spending just a few months in Naples, the results on the pitch speak volume of how impressive Kim has been for the Partenopei, with Napoli topping their UEFA Champions League group as well as storming ahead in the Serie A title race, with Luciano Spalletti’s side winning their last ten matches.
As a result, it’s no wonder why top clubs from England are now asking about more information on Kim, and Tottenham are believed to be one of the sides interested in signing the 25-year-old, who as per CalcioMercato, has a €45m (£40m) release clause that becomes active to foreign clubs next summer.

And this is why Napoli find themselves scrambling to renew Kim’s contract as the Italian side aim to remove this clause ahead of 2023, with £40m slowly becoming quite a bargain for the defender who this season has performed as one of the best in the entire continent.
Indeed, for Tottenham, they will be sitting with hope that the defender rejects new terms in order to facilitate a move to the Premier League. However, Napoli’s title-charge could convince Kim to stay in Italy and to sign a fresh contract with the Serie A leaders.
Kim signing new Napoli contract will come down to Scudetto title-race

Napoli have been nothing short of a revelation this season, with Spalletti’s men storming the Serie A title race and already looking like certain champions based on the form of their Italian rivals. And for Kim, winning silverware in his first season in Naples could convince the defender to sign a new contract.
After all, whilst the glitz and glamour of the Premier League are appealing to every player, Kim winning a major title with Napoli will be enough motivation for the defender to remain in Italy with the Partenopei, who entrusted the South Korean this season to marshall the backline.
