Paul Dummett has finally put pen to paper on a new contract at Newcastle.

Newcastle United have confirmed on their official website that left-back Paul Dummett has signed a new contract at St. James’ Park in a deal that could last until the summer of 2022, but where does that leave Massadio Haidara?
Dummett, 26, had just a matter of months remaining on his previous Newcastle deal despite being the Toon’s first-choice left-back under manager Rafa Benitez.
Just seven minuted into the 2017-18 campaign, the two-time Wales international suffered a long-term hamstring injury that kept him on the sidelines for four months of the club’s fight against relegation.

However, he has since returned to start seven of Newcastle’s last eight Premier League matches, in which they have conceded just seven goals and kept three clean sheets. The previous eight games saw Newcastle let in 19 goals, and fail to keep a clean sheet.
But does Dummett’s new deal finally spell the end for Newcastle outcast Haidara? The Frenchman has just four months left to run on his contract, which the Daily Star claim is worth £20,000 a week.
Haidara has been almost completely frozen out at Newcastle, making just one appearance all season in the FA Cup in the 3-0 loss to Premier League champions Chelsea.

The Toon signed Brazilian Kenedy on loan from the Blues in January and although his loan expires in the summer, his deal could be made permanent and if there are such plans in place then the need for Haidara would reduce even more.
With faith placed in Dummett, surely it is the end of the road for Haidara.
