Huddersfield Town striker Nahki Wells is of firm belief that the club’s recent January signing Collin Quanar will start banging the goals in for the Championship promotion chasers, as reports the Huddersfield Daily Examiner.

25-year-old Quanar arrived from 2. Bundesliga side Union Berlin in the winter transfer window, but has so far only found the net once for his new club – in the FA Cup third round against League One outift Rochdale.

However, Huddersfield boss David Wagner has seemingly placed his faith in the powerful striker, as Quanar has instantly become one of the first names on the team-sheet at the John Smith’s Stadium.

Now, Wells has now gone on record both praising and defending his new strike partner, insisting that if Quanar keeps persisting, then the goals will come, while also stating that the 25-year-old is having to adapt to a new league, a new country, and a certain style of play.

“You have to understand he’s coming over from playing in Germany and you have to understand it’s going to take time,” Wells said, as reported by the Huddersfield Daily Examiner. “He’s come in and played his fair share of minutes and I think he’s done well so far.

“I’m pretty sure he’d like to get the goals and get a bit of luck in front of goal, but that comes with perseverance and determination and sticking at it. We know this season it has been difficult for any striker in the way we play and how chances are created for us.

“I’m pretty sure he understands he has to stick at it and stay focused and take the opportunities when they come because they don’t come as frequent as we would have liked. It’s difficult but he’s done well so far and he just has to stick at it and takes his chances when they come.”

Huddersfield have had an incredible season and find themselves in third place, with an automatic promotion spot well within their sights as Town are currently six points behind second placed Brighton and Hove Albion, but with a game in hand.

Wagner’s side face an away trip to relegation threatened Bristol City on Friday, who – despite looking down and out in recent weeks – have picked up four points from their last two games.
