Ross McCrorie made his second Glasgow Rangers appearance in the Old Firm defeat at Ibrox on Saturday.

Speaking to The Glasgow Evening Times, Rangers legend Nacho Novo has singled out the “tremendous” Ross McCrorie for praise.
The 19-year-old was thrown into the deep end on Saturday as he deputised for Bruno Alves in central defence for the 2-0 Old Firm defeat by Celtic at Ibrox.
It was only his second appearance for Rangers but he posted an assured, mature performance which belied his lack of experience and, in truth, he was among the few Gers players who could hold their head high despite the defeat.

He certainly won a lot of hearts for his display and among his new fans is Novo, who told The Glasgow Evening Times that the youngster was nothing short of “outstanding”.
“The other thing I was proud to see was young Ross. I think the kid has been tremendous,” he said. “To come out in a game like this with such high intensity I think he was outstanding.”

Beyond that, it was a disappointing afternoon for Pedro Caixinha’s side who, as a result of the defeat, fell eight points behind Celtic and six behind Aberdeen.
This early in the campaign, Rangers don’t want to be giving their main rivals – both finished ahead of them last season – such a big healthy headstart and it remains to be seen if Caixinha is the man to bridge that ever-expanding gap or whether it will only grow bigger.
