West Bromwich Albion’s Nacer Chadli scores their first goal
Nacer Chadli has told Belgian news outlet Voetbal Krant that the end of his career at Tottenham Hotspur hurt, but does not feel he has taken a step down.
The 27-year-old was sold this summer after three seasons at the club, having lost the faith of head coach Mauricio Pochettino during the final months of 2015/16.

His omission from the team saw him miss Euro 2016, but his form since moving to West Bromwich Albion has prompted a recall.
Speaking to the Belgian media after training with the national team, Chadli spoke openly about the end of his Tottenham career and why he does not consider a switch to West Brom as a backwards step.
He said: “It did not go well at Tottenham, I played less and less and I had a few weeks to realise that I would not stay there. It did it hurt, yes, but I’ve turned the page.
“[In summer] I felt that my mind was already elsewhere. I did not play too much in the pre-season matches. And West Brom really wanted me, they were very quick.
“For me it was not a step backwards, because I did not play at Tottenham.”
Chadli has been a prominent player for the Baggies, playing four Premier League matches, scoring three goals, and providing two assists.
His goal tally has already matched the three goals he scored in 10 starts and 19 substitute appearances for Tottenham last season, and it is no surprise he feels he made the right decision.
