Tottenham Hotspur’s Nacer Chadli suffered with injuries soon after arriving at White Hart Lane.
Tottenham Hotspur ace Nacer Chadli has revealed how Manchester City skipper Vincent Kompany helped him overcome his early injury problems at White Hart Lane, The Sun reports.
The Belgian international joined Spurs from Eredivisie outfit Twente in the summer of 2013 but featured sparingly in his debut season, making only 15 Premier League starts.
Chadli’s absence wasn’t the choice of then-boss Tim Sherwood, it was because he suffered a number of recurring injuries, hampering his campaign and subsequently impeding his progress.
This season, in contrast, the 25-year-old has been far more involved, featuring in 31 Premier League matches thus far and contributing an impressive 10 goals and five assists.
On Sunday, Chadli welcomed last season’s Premier League champions Manchester City to White Hart Lane and the player he credits with helping him settle in North London.
“I played with Vincent [Kompany] in the national team and at the World Cup I asked him about a place to get help with my diet. He told me about a place he had been to that was good,” Chadli explained.
“It’s a castle in the north of Italy. It’s a place to relax and learn and I felt very good relaxing there. I felt totally new. My first season was a bit difficult but I feel more comfortable now.”
