Former Tottenham Hotspur winger Nacer Chadli clearly still holds some affection for his former club as he told BT Sport that not only were there no thoughts of revenge in his mind when he faced the club, but he would never even consider joining Arsenal.

Chadli left Spurs this summer in search of regular first-team football, which he has found after joining Wwest Bromwich Albion during the transfer window.

The Belgian international was something of a fringe player during the majority of his time at White Hart Lane, but has become arguably the key figure at the Hawthorns.

He has scored four goals in his first five games in for the Baggies, the most recent of which came against his former employers in a 1-1 draw with his old side last weekend.

However, he insisted that before the game there had been no thoughts about getting any kind of revenge against Spurs, stressing that he holds no animosity towards the North London club.

Chadli told BT Sport: “I think people think maybe it was like revenge but for me I came to West Brom to play and it is not really a revenge feeling about Spurs. Like I said, I am always happy to score.”

In fact, the 27-year-old went further by suggesting that he still hold Tottenham in his heart, and suggested that he could never bring himself to play for their arch-rivals Arsenal as a result of his history at White Hart Lane.

When asked if he would ever play for Arsenal, Chadli replied: “No. When you play for one of the two you can’t switch, I think.”

Often a decisive figure amongst Spurs fans, that definitive response is likely to endear him further to his old supporters.
